The Syro-Malabar Church has made a strong call to eliminate terrorism in all its forms, declaring that acts threatening national security must be permanently uprooted. Addressing the grave threat posed by terrorism, Church spokesperson Rev. Fr. Antony Vadakkekara emphasized that such violent attacks are an affront to the very fabric of humanity, undermining peace, coexistence, and the unity of society.
Condemning the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, Fr. Vadakkekara called for firm and exemplary legal action against the perpetrators, and offered prayers for the victims who lost their lives in the violence.
“Terrorism thrives not just on bloodshed, but on fear and division,” he said. “By targeting innocent civilians, terrorists aim to dismantle societal harmony and paralyze progress. This is an attack on the shared values that hold humanity together.”
Fr. Vadakkekara stressed that confronting terrorism requires a united front—one that includes international cooperation, robust legal frameworks, and an alert, informed public. “We must stand together, across political lines and civil organizations, to reject and isolate those who seek to destabilize our nation through violence and fear.”
He underscored the need for coordinated action to dismantle the networks that empower terrorism, stating: “Only through sustained, organized, and uncompromising efforts can we rid our society of these threats to national well-being and public safety. Terrorism has no place in a just and peaceful world.”
