New Delhi: In the wake of the devastating terror strike in Pahalgam, the Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (NORKA) has reported that 73 Malayalis currently stranded in Jammu and Kashmir remain unreachable. These individuals were previously in touch with the NORKA helpline but have since gone off-grid, raising serious concerns among officials and families alike.
The uncontacted individuals belong to six different travel groups. Fortunately, over 560 Keralites, spread across 51 groups, have already been located and safely evacuated from Kashmir since the attack.
As part of the immediate response to the terror incident, a dedicated NORKA help desk was launched under the directive of the Chief Minister’s Office. This initiative was aimed at offering assistance, coordination, and real-time updates to Malayalis affected by the unfolding crisis.
Citizens in need of help or those trying to locate loved ones can access support by contacting NORKA’s Global Contact Center at 1800 425 3939 (toll-free within India) or +91 880 201 2345 (for international missed calls).
NORKA Roots CEO emphasized that stranded persons, or anyone seeking updates about relatives currently in Kashmir, should immediately reach out, provide identifying details, and register through the helpline for assistance and tracking.
