Srinagar: Pahalgam, still bearing the scars of the recent terror attack that rattled the nation, is steadily reclaiming its vibrant spirit. Shops are reopening, life is stirring once more, and the familiar hum of the valley is slowly returning. While the footfall of tourists has significantly dipped, both domestic and international travelers are once again finding their way back to this picturesque paradise.
Foreign visitors have been quick to dismiss fears, offering reassurances about the region’s safety. A tourist from Croatia told national media that Kashmir’s beauty remains undiminished and praised the warmth of its people. Visitors from Serbia have also made their way to Pahalgam, adding to the cautious optimism.
Where once 5,000 to 7,000 tourists thronged the valley daily, only a few hundred now tread its scenic paths. For the many locals who rely solely on tourism for their livelihood, the impact has been devastating—terrorists not only stole lives but also shattered dreams.
Pahalgam’s charm lies in its rolling green meadows and towering pine forests. Wrapped in dense woodland and cradled by mountains, it offers an everlasting coolness that delights visitors all year round. Its breathtaking landscape, reminiscent of Switzerland, has long earned it the endearing title of "Mini Switzerland."
