After 'Operation Sindoor', PBKS vs MI IPL 2025 Match Relocated to Mumbai Amid Security Concerns: Report

In the wake of the Indian Armed Forces’ strategic offensive dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’—which targeted nine terror strongholds in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)—the IPL 2025 fixture between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) has been shifted from Dharamshala to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The decision comes as a direct consequence of heightened security concerns and the temporary closure of Dharamshala Airport, sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed to ANI. The match was originally slated for May 11.

The Indian military’s operation was a response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. In a highly coordinated strike involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force, precision-guided munitions destroyed key terrorist hubs in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya in Pakistan, along with five other locations in PoJK. This marked India’s most extensive cross-border military engagement since 1971.

With Dharamshala’s proximity to the border now a security concern, the BCCI is reconsidering the venue for Punjab’s next clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) as well. Widespread flight cancellations across 11 northern and central Indian cities—including Dharamshala, Amritsar, Jammu, and Chandigarh—have further complicated logistics.

“The PBKS vs DC match is also under review,” a BCCI official said. “We're in active discussions with the government and waiting for clearance. Safety is the top priority.”

Given the unfolding circumstances, there’s a growing likelihood that PBKS may have to relocate their remaining home games to alternate venues.
