New Delhi: In the wake of an attempted large-scale assault by Pakistan involving missile strikes in Jammu and Kashmir and drone incursions into Indian airspace, including Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, the Indian Navy has reportedly initiated high-level military operations in the Arabian Sea. According to sources, these operations began in the early hours of Friday and are targeting multiple locations linked to Pakistani aggression.
Late Thursday, powerful explosions were reported across Jammu, revealing that Pakistan had fired missiles at key locations such as RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, and Hiranagar. Fortunately, India's robust air defence system successfully intercepted all incoming projectiles. Additional drone threats were identified and neutralized in regions like Pathankot and Jaisalmer, according to officials.
Amid heightened tension, blackouts were enforced in major northern cities including Chandigarh, Mohali, and Srinagar as a precautionary measure.
"Pakistan-origin drones and missiles aimed at military sites in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were swiftly neutralized using kinetic and non-kinetic technologies. These actions followed established SOPs, and no injuries or damage have been reported," the Indian Ministry of Defence stated on X.
The ministry also reinforced India’s preparedness, saying, “India stands ready to protect its sovereignty and ensure the security of all its citizens.”
This military uptick follows India's launch of Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, in response to the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. In a carefully calculated strike, India targeted nine locations in Pakistan, including high-value terror infrastructure belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in Muridke and Bahawalpur.
Pakistan retaliated with attempted strikes on Indian installations in 15 locations, all of which failed to inflict damage. India responded again Thursday morning by targeting Pakistani air defence systems, reportedly destroying at least one installation near Lahore.
Pakistan’s subsequent missile and drone launches Thursday evening were once again intercepted, underscoring the efficiency of India’s defensive apparatus.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri underscored India’s firm yet restrained approach, stating that New Delhi’s actions have been focused, non-provocative, and limited to terrorist infrastructure. He criticized Pakistan’s attempt to shift blame, emphasizing that the initial escalation came from Islamabad with the April 22 attack.
"We did not begin this. Our response has been deliberate, targeted, and limited to terror camps. Any further provocations will be addressed with equal determination,” Misri affirmed.
As tensions continue to simmer, all eyes are now on the Indian armed forces’ operations in the Arabian Sea, with strategic maneuvers indicating that India is ready to act decisively against any further threats.
