In a significant counter-infiltration operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district. The operation, conducted during the night of May 8-9, resulted in the elimination of seven heavily armed militants.
BSF personnel detected suspicious movement near the Dhandhar border post around 11:00 PM on May 8. Upon interception, the infiltrators opened fire, prompting a swift and decisive response from the BSF troops. The ensuing exchange of gunfire led to the neutralization of all seven terrorists. Additionally, the BSF inflicted substantial damage on the Pakistani post at Dhandhar, which was reportedly providing cover fire to facilitate the infiltration attempt.
This infiltration bid comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, following India's launch of "Operation Sindoor" on May 7. The operation targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
The BSF's successful operation in Samba underscores India's heightened vigilance and commitment to securing its borders against cross-border terrorism. Security forces remain on high alert, anticipating potential retaliatory actions and further infiltration attempts.
As the situation along the border remains volatile, the Indian government continues to monitor developments closely, ensuring preparedness to counter any threats to national security.
