India Strikes Pakistani Airbases, Inflicts Heavy Damage; Pakistan Shuts Down Entire Airspace

New Delhi: In a dramatic escalation, India launched a precision missile assault on key Pakistani airbases, inflicting extensive destruction. The operation targeted Nur Khan, Murid, and Shorkot airbases—critical nodes in Pakistan’s aerial defense infrastructure.

Eyewitnesses and sources reported multiple blasts across the affected installations, with Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi—just 10 kilometers from Pakistan’s military HQ—bearing the brunt of the strike.

In response to the offensive, Pakistan has enforced a total airspace lockdown from 3:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. local time on 10 May 2025. Major global carriers, including Lufthansa and Air France, have rerouted flights to steer clear of Pakistani skies. Flight radar platforms reveal a near-complete halt in aerial movement over the country, with only a few aircraft currently visible.

This strategic blow by India follows sustained aerial offensives from Pakistan since 7 May. In an earlier maneuver, Indian forces had already dismantled Lahore’s air defense system.
