Fake Profiles Alert! Government Warns Against Sharing Posts on Impersonator Accounts of Vyomika Singh and Sofia Qureshi

New Delhi: The central government has taken action against bogus social media accounts impersonating Indian Army officers Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofia Qureshi. Authorities have urged the public not to engage with or circulate posts from these unauthorized profiles.

One such deceptive account claims, "Proudly serving in the skies, defending the nation with the Air Force," and has already amassed over 28,000 followers. Another fraudulent profile pretends to represent Colonel Qureshi, describing her as the first female commander of the international military drill, Force 18. These fake accounts surfaced following the announcement of Operation Sindoor on May 7.

The Press Information Bureau’s fact-checking wing identified these impersonations, stressing that neither officer maintains an official social media presence. The government reiterated the importance of relying solely on verified sources for credible updates.

Colonel Sofia Qureshi, hailing from Gujarat and holding a postgraduate degree in biochemistry, was commissioned from the Officers Training Academy and made history as the first woman to lead the Indian Army in an international joint military exercise.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, an accomplished Indian Air Force pilot, has operated Cheetah and Chetak helicopters across some of the nation’s most rugged and strategic regions.
