In response to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai has issued a comprehensive travel advisory for passengers. This move comes as part of nationwide security enhancements following the temporary closure of 32 airports across northern and western India, including key hubs like Srinagar and Amritsar, effective until May 15.

Do's:

Arrive Early: Passengers are advised to reach the airport well in advance to accommodate additional security screenings.

Carry Valid Identification: Ensure possession of government-issued photo IDs, passports, visas, and boarding passes for verification.

Pack Smart: Adhere to security guidelines by packing light and avoiding prohibited items.

Limit Liquids: Carry liquids in containers of 100ml or less, placed in a clear zip-lock pouch.

Electronics Screening: Laptops and tablets should be placed separately during security checks. 

Don'ts:

Avoid Unattended Luggage: Do not leave baggage unattended at any time.

Prohibited Items: Refrain from carrying sharp objects, flammable materials, or any items restricted by airport security.

Unauthorized Areas: Do not attempt to access restricted zones within the airport premises.

The advisory aligns with directives from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which has mandated enhanced security protocols nationwide. Measures include mandatory Secondary Ladder Point Checks (SLPC) for all passengers and a ban on visitor entry to terminal buildings. 

Additionally, the Airport Authority of India has temporarily shut down 25 segments of Air Traffic Service routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions, prompting airlines to plan alternate routes. 

Passengers are encouraged to stay informed about their flight statuses and adhere strictly to the issued guidelines to ensure safety and minimize disruptions during this period of heightened alert.
