Thiruvananthapuram: The weather forecast for Kerala has shifted, with the Central Meteorological Department issuing a fresh warning of intense rainfall across the state over the coming week. According to the updated bulletin, heavy rain is expected to persist for the next seven days, prompting the issuance of yellow alerts in multiple districts over the next five days.
For June 22, districts including Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod have been placed under a yellow alert, indicating the likelihood of isolated heavy downpours. On June 23 and 24, yellow alerts will remain in effect for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. The forecast anticipates localized heavy rainfall, defined as precipitation measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.
Meanwhile, the department clarified that marine activities will remain unaffected today (Saturday), with no weather-related restrictions in place for fishing along the Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coastal regions. Nonetheless, the public is advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the evolving weather conditions.
