Israel Targets Iran's Isfahan Nuclear Hub in Retaliatory Airstrike

Tel Aviv: In a sharp escalation of hostilities, Israel has launched a powerful airstrike targeting Iran's critical nuclear infrastructure in Isfahan. The attack comes in direct response to Iran’s recent ballistic missile barrage on central Israel.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), nearly 50 fighter jets participated in the mission, striking the Isfahan nuclear complex, which houses key facilities such as uranium enrichment and nuclear fuel production plants. The operation is seen as a continuation of Israel's sustained campaign against Iranian military and nuclear sites since June 13.

An Israeli official, speaking to AFP, confirmed the operation’s success and noted that “additional strategic targets” beyond Isfahan were also hit. Although Iranian state media outlet Fars News claimed the strike did not cause a dangerous incident, the symbolic weight of attacking Isfahan central to Iran's nuclear ambitions is significant.

The Israeli strike was in retaliation for Iran’s early morning attack on Saturday, during which five ballistic missiles were launched at Tel Aviv and surrounding areas around 2:40 a.m. Israeli air defense systems successfully intercepted all missiles, preventing casualties and major damage. One building reportedly caught fire from falling debris, but no injuries were reported.

Since June 13, Iran has fired over 470 ballistic missiles and more than 1,000 drones at Israeli territory. In response, the Israeli Air Force continues to intercept incoming threats and carry out strikes on launch facilities, including the destruction of 40 drones and associated bases on Saturday night alone.

The latest developments mark a dangerous intensification in the shadow war between the two regional powers, pushing the Middle East closer to open conflict.
