Tensions Rise as Iran and Israel Trade Accusations Over Ceasefire Violation

A senior Iranian security official has denied that Iran fired any missiles at Israel following the start of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between the two nations early Tuesday morning. The statement came in response to Israeli claims that missiles were launched in violation of the truce.

According to the Iranian official, no missiles have been fired since 7:30 a.m. local time (12:00 a.m. ET), which was the designated start of the ceasefire. He added that Iran remains on alert and warned that any Israeli aggression would be met with immediate retaliation.

Iranian media also denied reports of post-ceasefire attacks. The semi-official ISNA news agency stated on its Telegram channel that the claims were false, and state-linked Nour News also issued a similar denial.

In contrast, Israeli officials accused Iran of breaching the ceasefire. Defense Minister Israel Katz said Iran had committed a clear violation and that Israel would respond with force. Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Eyal Zamir, reported that Israeli defenses intercepted two missiles launched from Iran after the ceasefire began.

The truce was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump and was set to start approximately six hours after his initial message, placing the beginning at around midnight Eastern Time.

There is currently no independent verification of the timing of the missile launches. The conflicting statements from both sides have raised fears that the ceasefire may collapse, potentially reigniting full-scale conflict.

International leaders have called for calm and urged both Iran and Israel to honor the terms of the ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
