Kochi: The Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council (KCBC) has strongly condemned the growing wave of violence and persecution faced by Christian communities across the globe. In a statement issued by Deputy Secretary Fr. Thomas, the KCBC expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in targeted attacks, calling it a grave affront to human dignity and religious freedom.
Citing the recent suicide bombing during Holy Mass at a Greek Orthodox church in Hama, near Damascus, Syria, the council described the incident as a horrifying example of religious hatred. The blast, which claimed nearly 30 lives and left over 60 injured many of them women and children was described as a brutal wound to the collective human conscience.
The KCBC also condemned the ongoing persecution and systematic killings of Christians in West Asia and parts of Africa, including Nigeria, Sudan, and Burkina Faso. The council urged the global community to unite against such barbaric acts driven by religious extremism and called for immediate international intervention to protect innocent lives and uphold the right to religious freedom.
