In a major leap forward in consumer technology, Xiaomi has officially launched its much-anticipated AI smart glasses in China during its “Human × Car × Home” tech showcase. The advanced wearable is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1+ processor and is designed to rival existing smart eyewear such as Meta's Ray-Ban glasses. Xiaomi’s latest innovation marks a strategic expansion into the AI and augmented reality space, offering cutting-edge features at highly competitive prices.
The AI glasses come with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. A standout feature is the 12MP Sony IMX681 front camera that supports 2K video recording at 30 frames per second, enhanced with electronic image stabilization. The design is sleek and lightweight, weighing only 40 grams, and includes an electrochromic lens version that changes tint with touch input. Color options include black, brown, and green.
The glasses incorporate advanced AI capabilities through Xiaomi’s XiaoAI assistant. Features include real-time object recognition, multi-language translation, plant and food identification, calorie estimation, and Alipay QR code payments using just a glance and a voice prompt. A notable upcoming feature includes OTA-enabled QR payment functionality expected by September 2025.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, with an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance. Audio is handled by dual speakers and multiple microphones, including a bone-conduction mic. The 263mAh battery is reported to provide up to 8.6 hours of typical usage.
The pricing of the smart glasses starts at ¥1,999 (approximately \$280), with enhanced versions featuring electrochromic lenses priced up to ¥2,999 (around \$420). While the product is currently exclusive to the Chinese market, Xiaomi has indicated plans for global availability in the near future.
Alongside the smart glasses, Xiaomi's sub-brands also released key smartphone updates. The Honor X9c, launched in India via Amazon, features a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display, a 108MP camera with OIS, and a 6600mAh battery with 66W fast charging. It runs on Android 15 with MagicOS 9, and is built to be highly durable, targeting users with active lifestyles.
Redmi's Note 14 Pro 5G also entered the spotlight with a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, IP68 certification, and a 200MP main camera. Powered by the Dimensity 7300-Ultra processor and running HyperOS 1.0, the phone has received praise for its display, battery life, and camera performance, although its video stability could be improved. A software update to HyperOS 2 is expected soon.
These releases reflect Xiaomi’s continued effort to bridge innovation and affordability across wearables and smartphones, positioning itself as a formidable player in the evolving tech landscape.
