Vatican City: On Saturday morning, Pope Leo XIV hosted President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, along with the First Lady and an official delegation, in a warm diplomatic encounter at the Vatican.
Following his private audience with the Holy Father, President Obiang proceeded to engage in high-level talks with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
A communique from the Holy See Press Office described the atmosphere of the discussions as cordial, underscoring the strong and respectful diplomatic ties that have developed between the Holy See and Equatorial Guinea.
The conversation placed significant emphasis on the Catholic Church’s vital role within the country, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, and holistic development.
