Church to Host First-Ever Jubilee for Catholic Influencers, Celebrating Digital Missionaries

Vatican City: For the first time in history, the Catholic Church is preparing to celebrate a Jubilee event specifically for digital missionaries and Catholic influencers acknowledging the digital world as a vital frontier of evangelization. Scheduled for July 28–29, 2025, in Rome, the event will align with the Youth Jubilee and is expected to attract thousands of participants engaged in spreading the Gospel online.

Organized by the Dicastery for Communication, this historic initiative will welcome nearly 1,000 Catholic content creators from across the globe, with strong representation from Latin America, Spain, and the Caribbean. These influencers, who share the faith through videos, blogs, apps, and social media, will gather for two days of prayer, learning, and celebration in the heart of the Church.

Those unable to attend in person can join virtually by registering at www.digitalismissio.org. The main formative events will also be streamed live on the “La Iglesia Te Escucha” YouTube channel, ensuring widespread access to this global encounter.

The Jubilee will unfold in three distinct phases. First, participants will make a symbolic pilgrimage through the Holy Door a traditional act of spiritual renewal during any Holy Year. Next, the focus will shift to practical training and inspiration through talks, workshops, and testimonies at Rome’s Auditorium Conciliazione.

Finally, the celebration will culminate in a lively festival in Piazza Risorgimento, showcasing music, art, and digital creativity as tools of evangelization and communion. All venues are within walking distance of St. Peter’s Basilica.

This digital Jubilee reflects Pope Francis’ repeated calls for a Church that listens and reaches out particularly during the Synod on Synodality (2021–2024). He has encouraged the faithful to bring the Gospel into the digital world with compassion and respect, embodying the spirit of the Good Samaritan online. His vision was echoed by Pope Leo XIV, who has also emphasized the importance of hope-filled, human-centered communication in digital spaces.

This Jubilee builds on the 2023 World Youth Day in Lisbon, where digital evangelizers gathered for the first time. That initial network has since grown, laying the groundwork for this landmark celebration in Rome.

To foster global unity, the event has adopted an official anthem titled Todos (“Everyone”), a collaborative effort by Catholic artists from different continents. The title draws from Pope Francis’ 2023 World Youth Day message: “In the Church, there is room for everyone, everyone, everyone!”

As final preparations unfold, participants will soon have access to a spiritual guide and downloadable materials to help them engage deeply with the Jubilee’s missionary spirit whether on-site in Rome or online from their own digital peripheries.

This celebration marks not just a recognition, but a bold step forward for digital discipleship where Wi-Fi becomes a path to witness, and hashtags lead to hope.
