Bogota: In a powerful display of unity and faith, Catholics across Colombia and the diaspora will begin offering one million rosaries starting July 20, Colombia’s Independence Day. The initiative, titled “One Million Rosaries for Colombia; One Voice,” seeks divine intercession for peace amid growing national unrest.
Set to begin at 3 p.m. local time, the collective prayer movement will include petitions for peace, healing, and national unity. The campaign also includes a formal consecration of the country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The spiritual effort comes against a backdrop of violence and political instability, following recent terrorist attacks in the Coca and Valle del Coca regions and the attempted assassination of presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbe, who remains in critical condition.
The initiative was spearheaded by Archbishop Daniel Bustamante of Bogotá and has garnered widespread support across parish communities, Marian groups, schools, and families. From city centers to rural chapels, Colombians are preparing to lift their voices in unison, turning to prayer as a source of national hope and strength.
This symbolic act of devotion aims to reaffirm the country’s spiritual roots while calling for peace in a time of uncertainty.
