New Delhi: The Indian Army is poised to significantly enhance its combat capabilities with the imminent arrival of the AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, considered the most advanced in their class globally. According to national media citing senior defense officials, three Apache helicopters are scheduled to land in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, by Sunday or Monday, and will be formally inducted into the Army on July 22.
The helicopters are being supplied by Boeing, the renowned American aerospace and defense giant, under a deal signed for the procurement of six AH-64E units for the Indian Army. The remaining three helicopters are expected to arrive in the coming months.
The AH-64E Apache, often dubbed the “flying tank,” is equipped with cutting-edge avionics, night vision systems, and advanced weaponry, making it highly effective in executing precision strikes in hostile environments. These helicopters are battle-proven and currently operate with the U.S., U.K., Israel, and Egypt, among others.
India’s inclusion in the elite group of Apache-operating nations marks a strategic upgrade to its offensive aerial fleet, especially along its sensitive borders. With their integration into the Army’s arsenal, these helicopters will provide unmatched support in both conventional and asymmetric warfare scenarios.
