New Delhi: CBCI has appointed Sr. Asha Paul, CHF as the Secretary, CBCI Council for Women. Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) officially confirmed the appointment during its 149th Standing Committee meeting.
Sr. Asha Paul CHF is an accomplished advocate practicing in all courts of Delhi, registered with the Bar Council of Delhi (D/1179/2013). With a career rooted in legal empowerment and social justice, she has dedicated herself to representing marginalized and underrepresented communities. Her practice spans civil, criminal, and service matters, with a special emphasis on pro bono litigation and legal aid for those who cannot afford legal representation. Sr. Asha also lends her expertise to Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) across various religious congregations, helping institutions implement gender-sensitive policies and mechanisms for redressal in accordance with the law.
In addition to litigation, she is actively involved in prison ministry, where she works to protect the legal rights and dignity of incarcerated individuals. Her professional commitment extends to advocacy and awareness-building, contributing to legal education and policy discussions within faith-based and social institutions. Sr. Asha combines her legal practice with her role in pastoral ministry, serving in the Diocesan Family Apostolate Department and Youth Ministry, where she provides guidance on legal issues affecting families and youth.
Adv. Asha holds an LL.M. from Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University (2018–2020), an LL.B. (First Class) from CCS University, Meerut (2010–2013), and a B.A. in Economics (First Class) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi (2002–2005). With a strong academic foundation and a distinguished legal career, she is widely recognized for her legal acumen and ethical commitment. Her contributions have earned her respect across both legal and pastoral communities, where she continues to be a guiding voice on matters of justice and moral responsibility.
