New Delhi: YouTube Music is quietly testing a fresh feature called Your Daily Discover, designed to bring users closer to new tracks that align with their unique listening habits. Unlike the platform’s existing recommendation tools, this addition takes a more targeted approach, aiming to create a daily feed of songs with context on why each track was suggested.
According to early testers, Daily Discover appears directly on the app’s homepage, positioned just above the “Trending songs for you” section. The feature presents recommendations in a horizontal carousel format, where users can swipe through songs individually rather than browsing entire playlists. Each recommendation comes with a short note explaining its relevance whether it’s similar to recent plays, connected to an artist the listener follows, or aligned with a particular genre trend. A convenient Play All button then compiles the curated picks into a single playlist for seamless listening.
The first hints of this feature surfaced on Android devices about a month ago, when a Reddit user noticed it appearing in a different section of the homepage. More recently, iOS users have also shared screenshots, suggesting that YouTube is testing multiple layouts to measure user engagement. Despite these sightings, the rollout appears to be highly limited, as many users in community discussions reported not having access to the feature yet.
If launched widely, Daily Discover could serve as a bridge between familiar favourites and unexplored music, potentially helping users discover new artists and styles while still feeling grounded in their preferences. This aligns closely with the approach taken by Spotify, which already offers its own Discover Picks For You carousel, showing that YouTube is working to catch up in the competitive space of personalised music discovery.
For now, Your Daily Discover remains in the testing phase, but its combination of personalised suggestions and transparent reasoning marks a step toward making music discovery more intuitive and user-driven on the platform.
