New Delhi: NISCORT Media College opened its academic year 2025-26 with an Orientation Day that combined tradition, reflection, and academic purpose, formally ushering in the new batch of students while honoring the accomplishments of the past year.
Managed by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) under the leadership of its chairman, Most Rev. Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary, NISCORT continues its mission of shaping media professionals rooted in ethics and responsibility.
The inaugural event began with a prayer song by students and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Chief Guest Most Rev. Bhaskar Jesuraj, Bishop of Meerut and Governing Body Member of NISCORT, inspired students with a message that stressed the transformative role of media. He encouraged them to pursue academic and professional excellence while remaining guided by moral principles. Emphasizing the power of technology and artificial intelligence, the bishop underlined that such tools must serve the cause of humanism, foster peace, and strengthen genuine human relationships. “Credibility, compassion, and integrity should always remain the pillars of meaningful storytelling and journalism,” he told the gathering.
Rev. Fr. Robinson Rodrigues, Director of NISCORT and PRO of the CBCI, reiterated the institution’s vision to nurture responsible media professionals who contribute to nation-building. He cautioned against sensationalism and the trend of manufacturing conflicts for higher ratings, reminding students of the importance of truth and balance in journalism.
Adding to the day’s spirit, Principal Dr. Ritu Dubey Tiwari urged students to immerse themselves in the academic environment of NISCORT to lay strong foundations for their careers. The occasion also included a Certificate Distribution Ceremony led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sr. Michelle Mathias, honoring students who excelled in academics and co-curricular activities during 2024-25.
The program further featured a welcome note by Assistant Professor Ms. Amala Chacko and concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Ms. Kamakshi Thakur.
As the session drew to a close, new students were encouraged to actively participate in the college’s collaborative platforms, embracing the year ahead with enthusiasm and a commitment to responsible media practice.
