Kottayam: The Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) State Committee has announced the launch of the Kerala Reformation Journey, a statewide initiative aimed at reimagining the development of Kerala society through the perspective of its youth. The journey will commence in Kasaragod on August 28 and culminate in Thiruvananthapuram on September 7, covering all 32 dioceses of the state.
With the slogan of renewal and responsibility, the journey will serve as a platform to address the most pressing challenges confronting the community. The campaign will highlight issues such as the fight against drug abuse, the protection of constitutional rights, safeguarding the interests of coastal, Dalit, and hilly populations, and resisting communalism through the spirit of pluralism. In addition, the movement seeks to amplify the concerns of Christian communities facing increasing persecution and to craft a comprehensive “Kerala Development Document” that reflects the aspirations of the state’s youth.
The initiative is also designed to prepare and present strong young leaders of KCYM in the run-up to the forthcoming local body elections, underscoring the organization’s commitment to shaping a new generation of socially conscious leadership.
The route of the journey spans the entire state: beginning in Kasaragod and Kannur on August 28, moving to Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Malappuram on August 30, Palakkad on August 31, Thrissur on September 1, Ernakulam on September 2, Idukki and Kottayam on September 3, Alappuzha on September 4, Pathanamthitta and Kollam on September 6, before concluding with a grand finale in Thiruvananthapuram on September 7.
Organizers emphasize that the Kerala Reformation Journey is not merely a march, but a dialogue bringing youth energy to the forefront of societal change while envisioning a just and inclusive future for Kerala.
