Countdown to Canonization: Vatican Issues Special Stamps for Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati

Vatican City: With only three days remaining until the historic canonization of Carlo Acutis the Cyber Apostle of Divine Mercy and Pier Giorgio Frassati, the Vatican has unveiled a set of commemorative stamps to mark the momentous occasion. The canonization ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 7, at St. Peter’s Square, drawing tens of thousands of faithful from around the globe to witness the declaration of sainthood.

The Postal and Philatelic Service of the Governorate of Vatican City State, in collaboration with the Republic of San Marino and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, has released the stamps as a tribute to the two young men whose lives were marked by devotion, service, and love for the Gospel.

One stamp features Pier Giorgio Frassati, a young Italian who succumbed to polio while dedicating his short life to helping the poor, depicted in a painting by the artist Alberto Falchetti. The second stamp captures Carlo Acutis, wearing his signature red shirt and carrying a black bag, during a school trip to Mount Subasio near Assisi, just before his untimely death.

A total of 60,000 stamps of Carlo Acutis and 50,000 of Pier Giorgio Frassati will be issued, each priced at 1.35 euros ($1.60). The Vatican confirmed that the stamps will be available at the post office in St. Peter’s Square and at all Vatican post offices following the canonization, providing pilgrims and collectors alike an opportunity to commemorate this extraordinary event.

The Vatican described the issuance as a way to honor the legacy of two young martyrs whose lives continue to inspire millions worldwide, emphasizing their devotion to faith, service, and moral courage. The stamps are expected to become cherished memorabilia, symbolizing the canonization of two of the Church’s most admired youthful saints in recent times.

The canonization of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati marks a moment of hope and inspiration, particularly for the youth, highlighting how young lives committed to God and service can leave an enduring spiritual impact on the world.
