Rome: The canonization of Carlo Acutis has not only drawn global attention to his life of holiness but also sparked devotion among couples waiting to have children. During the canonization ceremony, his family, including his parents Andrea and Antonia, sister Antonia, and younger brother Michele, were present. Michele read the first reading during the celebration.
Carlo, who died in 2006 at the age of 15, was his parents’ only child. After his death, they did not expect to have more children. At one point, the couple even considered adoption. However, Antonia later recounted an extraordinary experience in which Carlo appeared to her in a dream, telling her she would once again become a mother. Shortly afterward, she discovered she was pregnant.
In 2010, exactly four years after Carlo’s death on October 12, Antonia gave birth to twins at the age of 44, a pregnancy many had considered unlikely. The children’s birth on the anniversary of Carlo’s passing strengthened the belief among many faithful that the young saint had interceded for his family.
This story has encouraged growing devotion to Carlo Acutis as a possible intercessor for couples struggling with childlessness. Many see him as a saint of the new generation, close to the everyday struggles of people, especially those longing to become parents.
