Thiruvananthapuram: The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced a significant revision in the Learner’s License Online Test, set to take effect from October 1, 2025. Aspiring drivers will now face a test comprising 30 questions, with a minimum of 18 correct answers (60%) required to pass. Each question will be timed, giving candidates 30 seconds per question to respond.
The complete exam syllabus is accessible through the MVD LEADS app, which also offers practice and mock tests to help applicants prepare effectively. Additionally, candidates who score 80% or above in the Road Safety Exam section of the app will earn a road safety certificate. Those awarded this certificate will be exempted from attending the compulsory post-Learner’s License training class.
The DMV has also introduced digital conveniences for students and public transport users. Students can now avail themselves of ticket concessions in KSRTC and select private buses via the LEADS app by simply scanning a QR code provided by the bus conductor.
Moreover, the road safety certificate is now mandatory for driving school instructors and MVD staff, emphasizing safety awareness across all levels of driving education and enforcement.
The Department of Motor Vehicles encourages all candidates to download the MVD LEADS app immediately and start practicing to stay prepared for the updated exam format.
This move reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing driver training, enhancing road safety awareness, and integrating technology into public services.
