Geita: In a solemn ordination ceremony held at St. James the Apostle – Mwagika Parish, Bishop Flavian Matindi Kassala of Geita Diocese encouraged newly ordained priests to remain steadfast and not be discouraged by the challenges of ministry. The ordination saw Deacons Barnabas Magera and Raphael Kabuche receive the sacrament of Holy Orders.
Addressing the congregation, Bishop Kassala emphasized that fear and discouragement are natural, but priests must rely on patience, perseverance, humility, and prayer to fulfill their calling. He reminded them that priesthood is a vocation of service and self-giving, not personal gain or status.
The bishop stressed that priests should lead by example and exercise authority through service rather than force. He encouraged them to nurture a strong spiritual life through constant prayer and closeness to God, even in moments of difficulty.
Bishop Kassala’s message aligns with the Church’s broader efforts in Tanzania to cultivate clergy who are spiritually grounded, humble, and committed to serving their communities. He urged the new priests to trust in God’s plan and to view their ministry as a mission to shepherd and guide the faithful, particularly in challenging circumstances.
The ordination marks a significant milestone for the Diocese of Geita, reflecting its ongoing commitment to fostering resilient and dedicated priestly leadership that prioritizes pastoral care and spiritual guidance for the local community.
