Tlaxcala: The Diocese of Tlaxcala, Mexico’s oldest diocese, is celebrating its 500th anniversary with a special initiative of 500 hours of continuous Eucharistic adoration. This spiritual event began on September 12, 2025, and will continue until October 3, 2025.
The 500 hours of adoration are being carried out across the 93 churches that form the seven deaneries of the diocese. Each deanery is responsible for 50 hours of continuous adoration. The initiative aims to prepare spiritually for the jubilee celebration, serving both as an act of thanksgiving and a renewal of faith.
Parish priests, vicars, and community leaders are actively promoting the initiative during Sunday Masses, encouraging families, parish groups, and the faithful to participate in this collective spiritual effort.
The Diocese of Tlaxcala was officially established on May 23, 1959, but its roots date back to 1519 when the Diocese of Tlaxcala was originally founded. This diocese was later renamed the Archdiocese of Puebla de los Ángeles in 1903. Today, the Diocese of Tlaxcala functions as a suffragan within the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Puebla de los Ángeles.
This celebration highlights the strong and enduring Catholic faith in the region and represents a significant milestone in the history of the Church in Mexico.
