CBCI Office for Education and Culture Unveils Four Scholarly Publications at National Catholic Schools Convention

Goa: In a landmark event for Catholic education in India, the CBCI (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India) Office for Education and Culture released four new books during the concluding session of the 56th National Convention of the All India Association of Catholic Schools (AINACS). The convention took place at the Park Regis Convention Centre, Arpora, Goa, drawing educators, clergy, and academic leaders from across the country.

The book release was led by Bishop Elias Gonsalves of Nagpur, who serves as Chairman of the CBCI Office for Education and Culture. The ceremony was further graced by Fr. Shinoj Kizhakkemuryil TOR, President of AINACS; Fr. Maria Charles, Executive Secretary of the CBCI Office for Education and Culture; and members of the AINACS Executive Committee. Sr. Ophelia Lobo formally introduced the publications and served as the anchor for the event, guiding attendees through the highlights of each work.

The publications reflect a comprehensive exploration of Catholic education in contemporary India. Among them, Catholic Educators Heralds of Transforming Education presents the proceedings of the CBCI National Symposium on National Education and is edited by Fr. Maria Charles. Another significant release, Education 5.0 Nurturing Gen-Next for Excellence and Service, offers insights from the CBCI National Consultation on Education, also under Fr. Maria Charles’s editorial guidance.
The other two volumes, Saint Educators The Story of Holiness and Education in the Church and The Teachings of the Catholic Church on Education, were compiled collaboratively by Fr. Maria Charles and Brandon Arnold John. The former delves into the lives of saintly educators and their enduring influence on the Church’s pedagogical mission, while the latter curates the most significant magisterial documents on education, offering an authoritative reference for scholars, teachers, and students alike.

Printed and distributed by ATC Publishers in Bengaluru, these volumes are now available for purchase through the publisher. The CBCI Office emphasized that these works aim to inspire educators, strengthen faith-based pedagogy, and provide guidance for nurturing the next generation in both academic excellence and moral formation.

The release of these four books not only marks a milestone in Catholic educational scholarship but also reinforces the CBCI’s ongoing commitment to fostering knowledge, service, and holistic development within schools across India. The event in Goa stands as a testament to the Church’s dedication to supporting educators and enriching the educational landscape with faith-driven insight and academic rigor.
