Kochi: The Pontifical Oriental Institute of Philosophy and Religion (POC), Palarivattom, is set to host an engaging literary forum titled “Gandhi and Malayalam Literature” as part of its renowned Vangmayam series. The discussion will take place on Thursday, October 16, at 5 p.m., offering an opportunity to explore how Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals have shaped and influenced Malayalam literary thought across generations.
The event will feature an eminent panel of scholars and writers from diverse disciplines. Dr. N. Renuka, Associate Professor in the Department of Malayalam at NSS College, Cherthala a noted writer and lecturer will bring her literary insight into how Gandhian philosophy found resonance in Malayalam prose and poetry. Dr. Vinod Kumar Kallolikkal from the Department of History, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, will provide a historical perspective, tracing how Gandhian movements and values influenced the socio-political undertones of Malayalam writing. Dr. Thomas Panakalam, Dean of Arts at Bharat Mata College, Thrikkakara, will contribute reflections on the cultural and educational dimensions of Gandhian influence in Kerala’s intellectual sphere.
The session will be moderated by Rev. Dr. Martin Sankurikkal, Professor of Philosophy, who will guide the discussion, connecting Gandhian ethics with the philosophical undercurrents present in Malayalam literature.
