Bhubaneswar: Priests who were once students at St. Joseph of Annecy schools in the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar region paid heartfelt tribute to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy (SJA) on 12 October, recognising 375 years of dedicated service to education, social care, and spiritual formation. The celebration particularly highlighted the sisters’ work at St. Vincent’s Orphanage in Mondasoro, Odisha, where generations of children grew under their care.
“Hail to our Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy (SJA) whose nurturing hands shaped our childhood at St. Vincent’s Orphanage Mondasoro,” said Fr. Dushmonth Nayak, recalling the formative influence of the sisters on his early years.
Fr. Manoj Nayak, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, Mondasoro, emphasized the sisters’ holistic approach, noting that their care extended far beyond education. “Their love and guidance offered hope to countless orphans, reflecting the words of Christ: ‘Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me,’” he said. He added that the sisters’ example continues to unite faith, service, and compassion, leaving an enduring legacy for both students and society.
The honouring ceremony brought together clergy, former students, and members of the local community, celebrating a legacy of commitment, selfless service, and spiritual mentorship that has spanned centuries. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy remain a beacon of hope, nurturing minds and hearts while embodying the values of faith, love, and service.
