Google Announces $10 Billion Investment for Asia’s Largest Data Center in Southern India

Visakhapatnam: Google has revealed plans to invest $10 billion in establishing a cutting-edge data center and artificial intelligence hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This marks the largest investment by the tech giant in India to date.

The upcoming facility will feature a one-gigawatt data center campus equipped with advanced AI infrastructure, extensive energy resources, and a wide-reaching fiber-optic network. Officials say the project is expected to strengthen India’s technological ecosystem and create significant employment opportunities.

State IT Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted the strategic importance of the project, describing data as “the new oil” and emphasizing how such initiatives can drive economic growth and innovation. A formal agreement for the development is anticipated to be signed on October 14, 2025.

This investment reflects the increasing competition among global technology companies to expand AI capabilities and infrastructure in the region, responding to the surging demand for AI-driven services.

The Visakhapatnam data center is set to become a major hub for Google in Asia, further cementing India’s role as a growing destination for technology and innovation.
