Hyderabad: The Church in Hyderabad is gearing up to celebrate Jubilee 2025, themed “Rekindle Hope in Humanity,” with grand events scheduled on 21–22 October at St John’s Regional Seminary, Ramanthapur. The jubilee, officially declared by the late Pope Francis in honour of the birth of Jesus Christ, marks a sacred period of divine grace, renewal, and reconciliation, encouraging believers to restore harmony with God, each other, and creation.
In a world grappling with war, migration crises, natural disasters, and increasing individualism, the jubilee seeks to remind the faithful that while the Cross represents suffering, the Resurrection embodies ultimate victory. The Church affirms that divine grace prevails over adversity, offering hope and solace to humanity. Participants are called to strengthen their faith and serve as witnesses of Christ’s love and mercy.
Cardinal Poola Anthony, Archbishop of Hyderabad and head of the Telugu Catholic Bishops’ Council (TCBC), emphasized that the celebration will convey a message of peace, service, sacrifice, and universal brotherhood. “God, who became man and dwelt among us, understands human struggles and continues to deliver humanity from all forms of evil,” he said.
The ecclesiastical province of Hyderabad, comprising seven dioceses Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Kurnool, Kadapa, Adilabad, and Shamshabad will participate in the jubilee. Around 200 delegates from each diocese, including bishops, priests, religious sisters, and lay faithful, are expected to attend, making up an estimated 1,500 participants.
The two-day event will feature a series of liturgical celebrations, prayers for world peace and national prosperity, and reflections on Scripture. Through these spiritual exercises, the Church aims to renew the commitment of the faithful to live out Christ’s teachings in daily life.
Aligned with Pope Francis’ vision of a universal Church, the jubilee emphasizes inclusivity and the unity of all pilgrims on earth. The celebration seeks to strengthen ecumenical bonds, encourage interfaith dialogue, and foster a sense of communion among diverse communities of faith. Participants will be reminded that the journey of faith is a shared pilgrimage, and hope is a gift meant to be rekindled in every heart.
Jubilee 2025 in Hyderabad promises not only a spiritual renewal for the Telugu Catholic faithful but also a reaffirmation of the Church’s enduring message: that peace, hope, and human dignity remain attainable when lives are rooted in faith, compassion, and service to others.
