All India Catholic Union condemns Red Fort blast as national probe widens

New Delhi: The All India Catholic Union has strongly condemned the deadly blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, calling it a shocking act of violence that threatens peace and security in the country. The group urged citizens to remain united and asked authorities to bring those responsible to justice without delay.

The explosion took place on November 10 when a car blew up near the historic monument, killing at least eight people and injuring many others. The blast involved a white Hyundai i20 that was found to contain traces of explosives. The driver of the car died on the spot, and investigators later confirmed his identity through DNA testing.

The incident has now been officially classified as a terror attack. The National Investigation Agency has taken charge of the probe, which has expanded across several states including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Officials are investigating whether the blast is linked to a larger terror plan involving multiple vehicles and sleeper cells.

Sources say one arrested suspect, Dr Adil Ahmad, travelled from Srinagar to Delhi just days before the explosion. Teams have also recovered a large quantity of arms and explosives from a house in Faridabad that investigators believe is connected to the module behind the attack.

Security has been tightened across Delhi and nearby regions. Border districts in states like Rajasthan have been placed on high alert, and surveillance has increased at markets, transport hubs and public spaces. Home Minister Amit Shah is monitoring the situation closely, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the conspirators will not be spared.

The United States has also taken note of the incident. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the blast as a terrorist attack and expressed support for India’s investigation efforts.

The Catholic Union said it stands with the families of the victims and called for unity in the face of violence. The organisation stressed that such attacks cannot be allowed to divide communities or weaken the nation.

Authorities continue to follow leads across states as the search for the wider network behind the attack gathers pace.
