Delhi Blast Probe Widens: Three more Arrested, two Doctors from Al-Falah University held; Sources Says

New Delhi: In a significant development in the Delhi Red Fort blast investigation, security agencies have arrested three more individuals, including two young doctors and an MBBS student, intensifying the crackdown on what officials describe as a widening extremist network linked to the attack.

The Delhi Police on Sunday confirmed that Dr. Muhammad and Dr. Mustaqeem, both associated with Al-Falah University and close friends of the suicide attacker Dr. Umar Nabi, were taken into custody from Nuh district in Haryana. Umar Nabi, who drove the explosive-laden vehicle that detonated outside the Red Fort, had reportedly maintained close professional and personal ties with the two doctors, raising suspicions about their awareness and possible involvement in the conspiracy.

Parallel to these arrests, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended Janisur Alam, also known as Nisar Alam, a final-year MBBS student at Al-Falah University. He was detained from Uttar Dinajpur district in West Bengal, where he had travelled with his family to attend a wedding. Investigators believe he may have assisted in operational planning or provided logistical support to the network behind the blast.

Authorities revealed that Nisar, who resides in Ludhiana, had been under surveillance following intelligence inputs suggesting he maintained communication with multiple suspects already in custody. During the arrest, security teams seized several digital devices, including mobile phones and storage devices, which are now being analyzed for encrypted communications, financial transactions, and possible foreign links.

With the latest arrests, the total number of individuals detained in the case has risen to 12, making it one of the most extensive counter-terror operations launched in the capital in recent years. Officials suggest the network may be larger than initially suspected, involving medical professionals and students who allegedly exploited their academic environment to mask radical activities.

The investigation continues to focus on uncovering the full extent of the conspiracy, including potential handlers, funding routes, and any international connections linked to the organisation behind the attack. Security agencies have indicated that more arrests are likely as digital forensic analysis progresses.

Authorities reiterated that the capital remains on high alert, and intensified security checks are underway across NCR as investigators piece together the final stages of the plot that led to the Red Fort explosion.
