Kanpur: Investigators are uncovering more disturbing details about Dr Shaheen Shahid, the woman they say played a key role in a terror network linked to the recent Delhi car blast.
Known within the group as “Madam Surgeon,” she allegedly used her medical background, professional contacts and coded communications to support a larger terror plan.
According to officials, encrypted chats and digital records reveal that Dr Shaheen communicated with other members of the module using secret code words. Everyday terms like medicine and food were reportedly used to disguise discussions about explosives, money and planned attacks.
Messages found by investigators include instructions such as “give more attention to Operation Hamdard,” which officers believe referred to an upcoming terror plot.
Authorities say Dr Shaheen was not working alone. Two unidentified women, referred to as Madam X and Madam Z in the chats, appear to have guided and coordinated activities with her. Their identities are still being verified.
The investigation suggests that Dr Shaheen was involved not only in planning the November 10 Delhi blast but also in preparations for a larger mission referred to as the D 6 operation.
Evidence shows that this plan was scheduled for December 6, raising concerns about what may have been intended.
Security agencies also report that Dr Shaheen may have had links to Pakistan based handlers and may have attended meetings abroad in recent years.
Financial records show multiple bank accounts and suspicious transactions, some possibly linked to hawala channels.
As part of the widening inquiry, the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad and the National Investigation Agency have questioned three doctors in Kanpur who interacted with her. Dozens of students, especially from Kashmir, are also being checked for possible recruitment attempts.
Officers say this case is troubling because it involves educated professionals who used their positions to shield illegal activities. The use of coded language, international contacts and carefully planned finances indicate that the group was highly organised.
The investigation continues, with teams examining digital devices, bank records and travel details. Officials say they are working urgently to identify every member of the network and understand the full scale of the plans that were underway.
