China and Finland agree to strengthen cooperation and support global system

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping met Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in Beijing and called for closer cooperation between China and Finland to support the international system and promote a multipolar world.

Xi said both countries should work together to uphold the role of the United Nations and support fair global governance. He stressed that China and Finland share common interests in peace, development and international cooperation.

During the talks, Xi also urged Finland to play a positive role in improving relations between China and the European Union. He said China and Europe should be partners and not rivals, and stronger ties would help global stability.

The two leaders discussed issues related to the Arctic region. Finland has a strong interest in Arctic security and development because a large part of its territory lies in the Arctic Circle. China has also shown growing interest in the region due to new shipping routes and economic opportunities.

Xi invited Finnish companies to expand their business in China, describing the Chinese market as large and open for cooperation. He said foreign firms are welcome to invest and grow along with the Chinese economy.

Prime Minister Orpo said Finland values its relationship with China and is willing to deepen cooperation in trade, technology and environmental protection. He also expressed hope for continued dialogue between China and Europe.

The meeting reflects China’s wider effort to strengthen ties with European countries at a time of global political and economic change. It also shows Finland’s interest in maintaining balanced relations with major powers while supporting international rules and cooperation.
