Indore: In a public expression of faith, unity, and national commitment, the United Christian Forum (UCF) organized a devotional concert titled ‘Pray for India’ in Indore to mark the 77th Republic Day of the nation. The programme brought together Christians from various denominations, highlighting a shared sense of prayerful solidarity and love for the country.

After a gap of six years, the fourth edition of the event revived Indore’s long-cherished tradition of inter-denominational harmony. Clergy, lay faithful, and community representatives from different churches gathered in large numbers, reflecting the Christian community’s collective resolve to stand united in faith and service to the nation.

The presence of Bishop Thomas Mathew of Indore and Bishop Chacko SVD added spiritual depth and significance to the occasion. Their participation underscored the importance of prayer and unity at a time when the nation commemorates its constitutional journey.

Addressing the gathering, Indore Member of Parliament Shri Shankar Lalwani acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Christian community to society. He commended its continued involvement in areas such as social service, education, and moral formation, noting that these efforts strengthen the fabric of the nation.

The evening unfolded with a rich blend of devotional music drawn from diverse Christian worship traditions. Through soul-stirring hymns and contemporary worship songs, the concert conveyed a powerful message of togetherness and shared responsibility towards the country and its people.

Church leaders representing different denominations came together on stage, offering a visible and meaningful sign of ecclesial cooperation. Their collective presence reinforced the spirit of fellowship that has long defined the Christian witness in Indore.

Renowned worship leaders Shammy and Pari Hans from Punjab, along with Pastor Sunny Vishwas from Pune, led the musical segments. Their inspiring performances guided the audience through moments of reflection, prayer, and joyful celebration.

The ‘Pray for India’ programme became a platform for Christians in Indore to reaffirm their common faith, patriotic commitment, and determination to strengthen unity beyond denominational lines. The message of unity in diversity resonated deeply throughout the gathering, echoing the constitutional values that lie at the heart of India’s pluralistic identity.
