UN urges global support for Pakistan after deadly militant violence in Balochistan

Islamabad: The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned the recent militant attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province that left dozens of people dead, including civilians and members of the security forces.

In a statement, the council expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and said those responsible for the violence must be brought to justice. It also called on all countries to support Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.

The attacks were carried out at several locations, targeting police stations, military posts and government buildings. Officials said the assaults appeared to be well coordinated and aimed at creating fear and instability in the region.

Pakistan’s military launched major operations in response, using helicopters and drones to track down the attackers. Authorities said at least 58 people were killed in the initial violence, and more than 170 militants were later killed during security operations over two days.

The government blamed separatist militants linked to the Baloch Liberation Army for the attacks. Senior leaders held emergency meetings to assess the situation and promised strong action to restore peace and protect civilians.

Balochistan has seen years of unrest due to political and economic grievances. Local observers say that while security measures are necessary, long term peace will also require development, employment opportunities and trust building with local communities.

Security remains tight across the province, with extra patrols and checkpoints as forces continue operations against remaining militant groups.
