New Jersey: A special screening of the Malayalam film ‘Aaghosham’ will be held in New Jersey as part of an initiative aimed at promoting India’s rich linguistic and cinematic diversity among audiences in the United States. The event is being jointly organized by the Consulate General of India, New York and the global Malayali organization Federation of Kerala Associations in North America.
The programme is expected to bring together officials from the Indian Consulate, leaders of Fokana, and several prominent personalities from the cultural and community spheres across the United States. Through this initiative, the Consulate seeks to introduce Indian-language cinema particularly regional films to a broader international audience, including American cultural groups and community leaders.
As part of this effort, the Malayalam film Aaghosham, directed by Amal K. Bobby, will be screened on March 14 at 2:00 p.m. at AMC Auditorium #7, 67 Willowbrook Boulevard, Wayne, New Jersey. The special show is being hosted under the cultural outreach initiatives of the Consulate General of India, New York in collaboration with Federation of Kerala Associations in North America, widely regarded as one of the oldest and largest organizations representing the Malayali diaspora.
Organizers have announced that entry to the screening will be completely free, although prior registration is required due to limited seating. Those interested in attending are requested to register in advance by contacting Koshy Kuruvilla, the New Jersey Regional Vice President of Fokana, at 201-450-1757.

The film carries the tagline “Life is all about celebration” and promises to offer the Malayalam diaspora in America a refreshing cinematic experience. By presenting a story that blends entertainment with social reflection, the movie aims to resonate strongly with audiences living far from their cultural roots.
‘Aaghosham’ is produced by CN Global Movies, a production banner led by expatriate entrepreneurs Dr. Lizzy K. Fernandes and Prince Procy from Australia. The film has also drawn attention for addressing the serious social issue of drug abuse, a subject that has been actively highlighted by Fokana through its long-standing awareness campaigns.
Phokana leaders noted that the organization has consistently worked to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse within the community. They believe the film’s narrative can spark meaningful discussions about the social and psychological consequences of drug addiction.
The movie features an impressive ensemble cast including Vijayaraghavan, Narain, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Renji Panicker, Johnny Antony, Shaju Sreedhar, Maqbool Salmaan, and Kottayam Ramesh, among others. Their performances, combined with an engaging narrative style, aim to keep viewers captivated from beginning to end.
Meanwhile, leaders of Federation of Kerala Associations in North America expressed appreciation for the efforts of Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, the Consul General of India in New York, and his team for promoting Indian regional cinema and cultural heritage through such initiatives.
Organizers emphasize that cinema remains one of the most powerful mediums influencing society and fostering cultural understanding. Watching a film in an unfamiliar language, they say, can feel like stepping into someone else’s world initially unfamiliar, but eventually deeply engaging and enriching. Through programmes like this, the Consulate hopes to inspire wider interest in Indian regional cinema and encourage audiences in the United States to explore more films from India’s diverse cultural landscape.
