National Media Conference Advocates ‘Solution-Oriented Journalism’ for Nation Building

Ghaziabad: In a significant gathering of media thinkers and practitioners, NISCORT Media College, in collaboration with the Brahma Kumaris, hosted the Fourth National Media Conference 2026, calling for a shift in journalism toward a more constructive and solution-driven approach to reporting.

Held in Ghaziabad under the theme “Solution-Based Media for a Prosperous Bharat,” the conference brought together academicians, journalists, researchers, and spiritual leaders to deliberate on the evolving role of media in shaping a progressive and responsible society. The central message that emerged from the discussions was clear: journalism must move beyond highlighting problems and actively contribute to identifying solutions that inspire hope and societal transformation.

Inaugurating the conference, Rayarala Vijaya Kumar emphasized the growing relevance of Solution-Based Journalism (SoJo), describing it as a balanced model that combines factual reporting with a forward-looking perspective. He urged media professionals to uphold ethical integrity, accuracy, and critical inquiry, while also reminding students and scholars of their duty in strengthening democratic values and contributing to nation-building.

Addressing the gathering, BK Sushant reflected on the erosion of human values in society, noting that this decline is increasingly mirrored in media narratives. He stressed that journalism rooted in compassion and responsibility can help restore social harmony and promote a more balanced public discourse.

Highlighting the unifying power of media, Robinson Rodrigues observed that in an era marked by division and mistrust, solution-oriented journalism has the capacity to bridge differences and foster peace. He pointed out that when guided by truth and purpose, the media can become a powerful force for unity and understanding.

The conference also witnessed the participation of eminent speakers including Ritu Dubey Tiwari, BK Sunita, BK Lovely, and Ganesh Joshi, who enriched the discussions with diverse perspectives on media ethics, communication strategies, and societal impact.

Spread across two sessions, the conference featured the presentation of 15 research papers by scholars and journalists. The discussions explored a wide range of themes, including ethical journalism, the influence of digital media, and the growing importance of solution-based storytelling in shaping public opinion and community development.

The event concluded with an award ceremony recognizing outstanding contributions in media research and practice. Delivering the valedictory address, Ravi Narayan Kar encouraged media professionals to strike a balance between critical reporting and constructive narratives that can inspire meaningful societal change.

Participants also engaged in interactive sessions aimed at bridging academic research with real-world media practices, while integrating spiritual insights to promote value-based journalism. The conference ultimately reaffirmed a shared vision: that journalism, when guided by integrity, responsibility, and a solution-oriented mindset, can serve as a transformative force in building a more compassionate, united, and prosperous India.
