Stabbing of two Jewish men in north London investigated as terror incident

London: Two Jewish men were injured in a stabbing attack in north London, and police are treating the incident as a suspected act of terrorism.

The attack happened on April 29 in an area known for its large Jewish community. The victims, aged 76 and 34, were taken to hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Police responded quickly and used a taser to stop the attacker. A 45 year old man was arrested at the scene and is being held on suspicion of attempted murder.

Officers said the suspect also tried to attack them during the arrest, but no police personnel were injured.

Counter terrorism officers are leading the investigation as authorities examine whether the victims were deliberately targeted because of their identity. Officials said all possible motives, including hate related factors, are being carefully considered.

Police are also looking into whether the suspect may be connected to another knife related incident reported earlier the same day in southeast London.

The attack has caused concern among residents and community leaders, especially as reports of antisemitic incidents have been rising in parts of the United Kingdom.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack and said the government will take strong steps to protect communities and ensure public safety. Authorities have increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues.
