New Delhi: Delhi resident doctors have called off their protest against the delay in NEET PG counselling, in view of inconvenience to patients and rise in Omicron case. The doctors decided to call off strike following a meeting between Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA members) and Joint CP of Delhi Police. The doctors said that the police had assured them that the cases would be withdrawn and that the Supreme Court would wait for those considering the case on January 6. They also made it clear that they did not intend to harass ordinary people.
"Last evening, we met the Joint CP of Delhi. The Delhi police have initiated the process of quashing the FIR," said Dr Manish, president of the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA). The doctors decided to call off strike following a meeting between FORDA members and Joint CP of Delhi Police.
Since November 27, resident doctors across the country have been protesting against the multiple postponement of the NEET-PG counselling 2021. The counselling got delayed after several petitions in Supreme Court challenged the EWS quota in the All India Quota for the NEET PG counselling.
The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) has proposed three demands-a confirmed date for NEET-PG counselling, an apology from authorities, and the dismissal of FIRs against protesting doctors. The doctors association has said that a national meeting with all the RDA representatives will be convened by FORDA on January 6. As the health ministry is supposed to submit the Committee Report to the Supreme Court before January 6, 2022 and will publish the NEET-PG 2021 Counselling schedule following the Court hearing, the association said. The doctors will resume work from 12 p.m.
