A female student’s plea seeking to allow full-sleeves and headscarf as the student-police uniform was rejected by the High Court.
The court ruled that religious symbols in any form cannot be considered as part of the student’s police uniform. It further clarified that the uniform code was also gender neutral.
The neutral uninform code was followed since the inception of the Student Police Cadets.
The petition was moved by an 8th grader from Kuttiyadi Goverment Higher Secondary School. The student cited her religious tradition that required her to wear a headscarf and a full sleeved hand for the request.
