'Rally For Life 2022' held at Perth, Pro-abortion activists tries to interrupt rally

Perth: Abortion activists tried to interrupt a peaceful rally against abortion, conducted in front of the Western Australian Parliament yesterday evening in Perth. 'Rally For Life 2022' is meant to uphold the dignity of all lives from conception to natural death.

The rally marked the 24th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in Western Australia, claiming 200,000 lives ever since through legal abortions. The interruption by pro-abortion activists is the first such incident in the 24-year history of Rally for Life.

The abortion activists rushed to the scene as soon as the prayers began, holding placards in favor of abortion. Their attempt to interrupt the event failed after participants and security personnel intervened and peacefully dispersed the repulsive group. Abortion activists have unleashed widespread attacks following reports that the Supreme Court is moving to repeal the abortion law in the United States. The events in Perth can be seen as a spillover of the events in the US.

The Rally for life began with the recitation of the rosary in front of St. Mary's Cathedral, Perth at 6 pm yesterday. Hundreds of people, including Keralites, participated in the rally which marched through the city center. Syro Malabar Youth Movement activists actively participated in the event.

Former Archbishop of Perth Barry Hickey led the prayers at the meeting. The keynote address was delivered by Martyn Illes, Director at Australian Christian Lobby. Martyn Illes said the fight against abortion is more about Eternal Life. Maryka Groenewald, AC WA State Director also spoke during the rally.

The event is organized by the Coalition for the Defence of Human Life, a coalition of Christian pro-life groups, which includes ACL.

The organizers emphasized that Rally for Life is an opportunity to gather in peace and solidarity, to uphold the dignity of life from conception to natural death, and to remember the 200,000 lives lost to legalized abortion since 1998 and the at least 27 Western Australian children have been born alive following an abortion attempt and left to die.
