Archdiocese of Ernakulam Angamaly Curia reconstituted; Church observers term it acceptable

Kochi: Mar Andrews Thazhath, who was appointed by Pope Francis as the Apostolic Administrator of the Ernakulam - Angamaly Archdiocese, has started a massive overhaul of the archdiocese's administrative systems (Curia). Observers of the church say that Mar Andrews has managed to select those with administrative skills from among the priests of Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese without considering their inclination. He has announced his decision, being fully aware that keeping all those on the rebel side out of the Curia together would lead to violent protests and thereby, further aggravation of the issues.

It is generally regarded as a strategic decision to remove some clerics who had masterminded the rebellious activities, while bringing some others into leadership. Fr. Biju Perumayan who served as Chancellor of the Archdiocese is asked to go on leave. Fr. Mathew Kilukkan is removed from the post of PRO of the Archdiocese, and has not been given any new responsibilities. Fr. Paul Madassery is appointed as the procurator, with Fr. Pinto Punnackal as the assistant procurator.

The prime responsibility before them will be to sell off the Kottappadi land and pay the debt of Archdiocese.

Following are the important appointments.

Fr. Martin Kallungal (Chancellor & PRO)
Fr. Sony Manjaly ( Vice Chancellor and Office Secretary)
Fr. Antony Perumayan ( Synchellus)
Fr. Varghese Pottakkal ( Proto – Synchellus)

Former Synchellus Fr. Jose Puthiyedath is appointed as the Vicar of Paravur Forane. Fr. Joy Ainiyadan is the new Director of Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly, and Fr. Hormis Mynatty is appointed as the Spiritual Director of Lisie Hospital.
