Queen Elizabeth II's funeral journey begins

London: The funeral procession carrying the coffin of Queen Elizabeth has begun. The coffin is carried from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch.

The ceremony, which began at 12 pm local time, was led by the Queen's eldest son, King Charles III, followed by members of the British royal family.

Hundreds of thousands of people queue for hours to pay their last respects to the Queen. The Dean of Westminster and the Archbishop of Canterbury presided over the funeral. Queen Elizabeth rests next to her husband Prince Philip's grave in St George's Chapel.

At the ceremony, the British Prime Minister and the Commonwealth Secretary-General will deliver a memorial speech.

The body will be manned by 142 members of the Royal Navy and will be escorted by a gun carriage through the Mall to Wellington Arch. Then the coffin will be delivered to Windsor Castle.

The second phase of the cremation will begin at St. George's Chapel in the presence of royal family members and personal staff around 5.30 pm local time. Very close relatives will be present at this ceremony.
