Syro Malabar Synodal Commission for Family, laity, and Life is planning a national campaign to raise awareness about the major challenge that illicit drugs represent to society as a whole, and especially to the young.
The goal of the campaign is to mobilize support and inspire people to act against drug use. The Family, life and laity commission encourages as many awareness-raising activities as possible around the nation.
The Syro-Malabar Chuch is in the action with a prevention and awareness programme by devising a strong action plan against the increasing drug trade that has created concern and fear in Kerala society.
Under the leadership of the Syro-Malabar Synodal Commission for life, family and the laity, awareness prevention and quick action projects against drug addiction are being initiated.
The campaign will start from Palai, a Syro-Malabar Catholic diocese which has been a multi-ethnic and multi-religious town where Christians form the largest community.
Pala Diocese Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangat will inaugurate the campaign on 30th September. Excise Assistant Commissioner P.K. Jayaraj will lead the seminar on anti-drug policies .
Palai diocese Proto Syncellus Rev.Dr.Joseph Thadathil, Commission General Secretary Fr. Joby Moolayil, Syro-Malabar Church Laity Secretary Tony Chittilappilly, Pro-Life executive Secretary Sabu Jose, Mathruvedhi General secretary Rosily paul Thattil will speak on the occasion.
