US federal drug agents say they seized enough fentanyl in 2022 to kill every American.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) said they seized 379m doses of potentially lethal fentanyl , a dose is around two milligrams
The DEA depicted the exceedingly addictive substance, which is 50 times more capable than heroin, as the deadliest medicate danger confronting the US.
The organization says most of the fentanyl is trafficked into the US from Mexico.
More than 10,000lb (4,500kg) of fentanyl and more than 50.6 million fentanyl pills that were disguised to look like various prescription painkillers were allegedly seized by the DEA.
That is more than twice as much as what they took in 2021.
The Sinaloa and Jalisco drug cartels, who use chemicals sourced from China, mass-produced the majority of the drugs at these hidden Mexican factories, the agency claimed.
A lethal dose of the drug can fit on the tip of a pencil because it is so potent.
Two-thirds of the more than 100,000 drug overdose deaths in America last year were attributed to fentanyl. The 330 million people who live in the US could all be killed with the amount of fentanyl that was seized this year, according to the drug agency.
The two Mexican drug cartels, the Sinaloa and Jalisco (CJNG) Cartels, which are primarily in charge of the fentanyl that is currently killing Americans, are the DEA's top operational priority, according to Administrator Anne Milgram.
The DEA also found 131,000 pounds of methamphetamine, over 4,300 pounds of heroin, and over 444,000 pounds of cocaine in addition to the fentanyl.
