Kochi - 'The people of Kerala is appreciative of the government of Prime Minister Modi and are looking for further development in Kerala through the initiative of the central government in Delhi', said Caridnal Mar George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with the heads of the Church in Kerala.
The meeting held in Taj Malabar Hotel followed the Prime Minister's Road show and the Yuva Morcha.
The meeting was held with the heads of seven Christian communities.
'Of course, we shared the needs of the Christian community and also all the needs that we are visualising for the state of Kerala', said Cardinal Mar Alencherry.
The people of Kerala is really appreciative of the government of Prime Minister Modi and we are looking for further development in Kerala through the initiative or the central government in Delhi.
We presented before the PM, the woes of the farmers, the problems of the fisherman, and other people who live in the coastal area. We also talked about the rights of the Dalit Christians and the people who are poor and are marginalised.
The Prime Minister very attentively listened to what we said. He also shared what he is has done already for the state of Kerala and also for the Christian community in particular and for the poor, by visualising 10% reservation etc, for those who are poorest of the poor in without any conservation of religion or caste. So such a kind of open dialogue happened between them.
We also shared anxieties on our mission work in North India, which are hindered by certain activities of the religious fundamentalists. Of course, he promised that there will be protection for all believers in India.
He also talked about the visit of the Holy Father, which might happen in the near future, concluded Mar George Alencherry.
