Russia's Arrest Warrant Targets Lindsey Graham for Ukraine Remarks

MOSCOW — Russia's Interior Ministry has issued an arrest warrant for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham following his comments regarding the conflict in Ukraine. In a video released by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office, Graham, a Republican senator from South Carolina, mentioned that "the Russians are dying" and praised U.S. military assistance to Ukraine as a worthwhile investment. The video edited together various parts of the conversation, which sparked outrage in Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, criticized Senator Lindsey Graham, stating that it is highly disgraceful for the country to have senators like him. The Investigative Committee, Russia's top criminal investigation agency, has initiated a criminal inquiry against Graham, and the Interior Ministry has subsequently issued an arrest warrant for him. This action comes after Russia had previously banned Graham, along with over 200 U.S. members of Congress, from entering the country.

In response to the developments, Graham expressed his satisfaction on Twitter, stating that it brings him immense joy to know that his support for Ukraine has garnered the disapproval of Putin's regime. He pledged to continue standing with and advocating for Ukraine's freedom until all Russian soldiers are removed from Ukrainian territory. Graham regarded the arrest warrant issued by Putin's government as a badge of honor, reflecting its corruption and immorality.
